Alibaba’s AI search engine reaches 500,000 B2B users

Alibaba International’s business-to-business (B2B) search engine, Accio, has surpassed 500,000 users since its launch in November 2024.

Its users are primarily small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Accio leverages natural language processing (NLP) to simplify product sourcing, connecting SME buyers with millions of suppliers across a global network. The platform catalogs suppliers in 7,600 product categories and uses more than 200 million trade-specific parameters for tailored search results. Unlike traditional keyword-based tools, Accio allows users to perform searches in natural language, supporting English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish, with plans to expand language options.

The search engine’s “Accio Inspiration” feature has led to a 30% increase in supplier conversion rates, moving users from searches to quotation requests. During the peak sales seasons of November and December, over 50,000 SMEs used Accio to plan inventories for Black Friday and Christmas. User feedback indicates that the tool improved the efficiency of their sourcing processes.

Accio also includes features designed to support business decision-making. The “Accio Page” presents product information that enables detailed comparisons. Meanwhile, the “Accio Agent” streamlines post-search actions such as inquiries, payments, and after-sales support, functioning as a virtual sourcing assistant integrated into Alibaba’s infrastructure.

Customer satisfaction metrics highlight Accio’s effectiveness. The platform has achieved a net promoter score (NPS) above 50, reflecting positive user experiences. On Dec. 13, 2024, it was named “Product of the Day” on Product Hunt, a platform that highlights innovative technology products.

Alibaba launched Accio during a period of growing demand for AI-driven tools in the global trade market. Its NLP capabilities represent a step forward in search technology, enabling users to interact with the platform in a conversational manner. With plans for additional updates, Accio aims to continue bridging the gap between SMEs and suppliers worldwide, supporting efficient and informed product sourcing.
