Boeing names Dana Deasy as CIO and top digital officer

Boeing has a new chief information (CIO) and chief digital officer.

The multinational aerospace company announced Dana Deasy has been appointed as its latest top digital technology executive.

Deasy joined Boeing effective Dec. 31. He will also serve as senior vice president of information technology and data analytics, reporting directly to CEO Kelly Ortberg. In addition, Deasy will join Boeing’s executive council.

Deasy will oversee the company’s information technology, cybersecurity, and data analytics operations. His appointment comes at a pivotal time as Boeing continues to integrate emerging technologies like artificial intelligence to enhance safety, quality, and operational reliability.

“Dana is a well-respected, global technology leader who has a track record of delivering on innovative technologies across large and complex organizations,” said Ortberg. “With the need to stay vigilant against cyber threats and harness the power of emerging technologies, our IT team will play a crucial role in delivering for our customers and positioning Boeing for the future.”

Deasy’s professional background

Deasy brings over 40 years of leadership experience in the technology sector. He previously served as chief information officer for the U.S. Department of Defense, where he spearheaded significant advancements in digital transformation and cybersecurity. His career also includes top IT roles at JPMorgan Chase, BP, and General Motors. Deasy began his career in information management with Rockwell’s Space Systems Division.

Deasy succeeds Susan Doniz, who left Boeing in late 2023.

The company’s leadership expressed confidence that Deasy’s extensive expertise will strengthen Boeing’s efforts to meet customer demands while advancing technological innovation and security in the aviation industry.
