The move signals a major step in QXO’s strategy to build a tech-driven distribution platform serving the $800 billion U.S. building products industry.
DeWitt joins QXO with three decades of global procurement experience across retail, health care, and manufacturing. Most recently, he served as vice president of international spend management at Walmart International, where he oversaw more than $10 billion in annual purchasing across 18 countries. During his eight-year tenure, he led the adoption of advanced sourcing technologies, including AI-powered negotiation tools, which helped the retail giant more than double its annual savings.

QXO chairman and CEO Brad Jacobs said DeWitt’s hiring is a key part of the company’s operational scaling efforts.
“Michael has redefined what best-in-class procurement looks like,” Jacobs said in a statement. “He’s driven billions in savings, pioneered the use of AI in sourcing, and built global teams that outperform.”
Before Walmart, DeWitt served as chief procurement officer at Highmark Health, where he managed $8 billion in spend across five business lines. He also held senior sourcing and procurement roles at Bayer, MEDRAD, and Hewlett-Packard, with a focus on driving automation, supplier performance, and strategic sourcing.
DeWitt began his career in logistics and inventory management in the U.S. Air Force.
His appointment comes as QXO pushes to consolidate and modernize a fragmented building products distribution sector. Launched in 2023, the Greenwich, Conn.-based firm is building a unified, technology-enabled distribution platform aimed at improving procurement efficiency, service quality, and supplier integration across the construction supply chain.
