Amazon Business GMV tops $35 billion

Amazon.com Inc. said Aug. 20 that its Amazon Business unit is generating more than $35 billion in annualized gross merchandise value (GMV) and now serves over 8 million organizations worldwide as the service enters its 10th year.

Launched in the United States in 2015, Amazon Business has become a key part of the company’s enterprise strategy. It offers procurement tools and bulk purchasing to companies ranging from small businesses to multinational corporations. Its customer roster includes 97 of the Fortune 100, 66 of the FTSE 100, and 38 members of Germany’s DAX-40 index.

Amazon ranks No. 1 in Digital Commerce 360’s Top 2000 Database. The database is how Digital Commerce 360 tracks the largest North American online retailers by their annual ecommerce sales.

Amazon is also No. 3 in Digital Commerce 360’s Global Online Marketplaces Database. That database ranks the 100 largest such marketplaces by third-party gross merchandise value (GMV).

How Amazon Business has grown its GMV

Amazon said it is expanding selection and deepening discounts to attract and retain business buyers.

Its product availability has grown 25% over the past year, with strength in industrial equipment, scientific supplies, health care, and facility maintenance. Selection from small business sellers rose 80% year over year, with more than 160 million items now offered by those suppliers.

The company also highlighted cost savings for customers. In the first half of 2025, U.S. organizations saved more than $150 million through quantity discounts. Global small business customers saved more than $70 million, including $25 million in the U.S.

Logistics remains a central focus. Amazon Business said more than 85% of U.S. business customers now have access to palletized delivery, aimed at cutting packaging waste and simplifying receiving. Amazon Business Prime members — who pay for faster shipping and procurement features — saved more than $750 million in shipping fees last year. Half of global Business Prime orders and over 70% of U.S. orders arrived the same day or the next day, according to the company.

Amazon Business now operates in 11 countries, including the U.S., Canada, Germany, the U.K., France, Italy, Spain, Japan, India, Mexico, and Australia.
