He has brought three decades of experience in deploying cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and enterprise-scale data systems to improve business performance.
Close to half of the Top 2000 retailers in North America use FedEx as a shipping carrier, according to Digital Commerce 360 data. The Top 2000 refers to North America’s largest online retailers by annual ecommerce sales. In 2024, 939 online retailers in the Top 2000 Database used FedEx as a shipping carrier.
New FedEx chief digital and information officer
Talwar is no stranger to FedEx. For the past two years, he has worked closely with the company in an advisory role through Accenture, helping shape its ongoing digital transformation. His earlier career includes leadership roles at IBM and Dell Services.
“With more than 27 years in technology leadership, Vishal has a proven track record in accelerating business growth through forward-thinking strategies and transformative digital solutions,” FedEx president and CEO Raj Subramaniam said. “His institutional knowledge and industry expertise will be instrumental as we continue to advance our long-term strategy and harness the full potential of FedEx intelligence.”
As CDIO and head of FedEx Dataworks, Talwar will oversee both the company’s Data and Technology and Dataworks organizations. His mandate includes building new digital products, strengthening enterprise architecture, expanding AI-driven services, and tightening cybersecurity.
“I am honored to join FedEx during such a transformative period,” Talwar said. “I have tremendous confidence in the future of FedEx and am thrilled to be a part of the team.”
The appointment signals FedEx’s continued push to integrate advanced technology into its operations as global supply chains grow more complex and competitive.
