Salesforce has signed a definitive acquisition agreement for Cimulate, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered product discovery startup.
The move aims at strengthening Salesforce’s commerce technology and expanding its push into agent-driven retail experiences. The companies did not disclose financial terms. They expect to close the transaction in the first quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2027, subject to customary closing conditions.
Salesforce said it will integrate Cimulate’s technology into its Agentforce Commerce platform to improve search and product discovery for retailers. The company said the addition will help merchants shift from traditional keyword-based search to systems that interpret shopper intent and deliver more contextual and conversational results.
Salesforce acquisition of Cimulate
Cimulate develops an intent-aware context engine built for retail environments. Its platform combines real and simulated shopper journey data. In doing so, it analyzes behavior patterns and surfaces more relevant products throughout the buying process.
“The future of commerce is agentic, moving beyond simple transactions to intuitive, conversational discovery,” said Nitin Mangtani, senior vice president and general manager of Commerce and Retail at Salesforce, in a statement. “By integrating Cimulate’s technology into Agentforce Commerce, we’re helping retailers close the gap between shopper intent and action.”
John Andrews, CEO and co-founder of Cimulate, said the acquisition will allow the company to scale its technology to a broader base of global retailers and accelerate product development.
The deal is the latest in a series of acquisitions by Salesforce. The ecommerce technology provider is expanding AI capabilities across its sales, service and commerce platforms. The company has increasingly positioned AI-driven agents and data tools as central to its strategy, particularly as retailers seek to improve conversion rates and deliver more personalized online shopping experiences.
For enterprise sellers and wholesale distributors, the transaction reflects a broader shift in ecommerce technology toward real-time, intent-driven search and conversational interfaces designed to mirror consumer expectations.
Salesforce did not say how Cimulate’s products will be packaged following the close of the deal, nor whether they will be offered separately or integrated exclusively within its existing commerce platform.
