Wedding-tech platform The Knot has announced it has launched an app within OpenAI’s ChatGPT platform.
In its announcement, The Knot called it the first ChatGPT app within the wedding industry. The companies said their integration combines The Knot’s wedding planning and vendor discovery with OpenAI’s search technology. They said their app makes the wedding planning process “faster and easier.”
“Innovation is at the core of everything we do at The Knot,” said John James, chief technology officer, in a statement. “Wedding planning is complex, it’s emotional, and it can feel overwhelming. With this new integration, we are making it easier for couples to get started by meeting them where they are and providing them with the confidence they need to plan for one of life’s most meaningful moments.”
The Knot is part of The Knot Worldwide, which also owns WeddingWire, Bodas.net, Hitched, The Bash and other platforms. The parent company ranks No. 625 in the Top 2000. The database is Digital Commerce 360’s ranking of the largest North American online retailers by their annual web sales.
How does The Knot’s ChatGPT app work?
The ChatGPT app leverages The Knot’s vendor marketplaces and more than 14.6 million reviews. The Knot said couples now have a new way to begin their wedding planning. They can turn their early questions on ChatGPT into “personalized, actionable recommendations,” according to The Knot.
The Knot said its ChatGPT app includes:
- Personalized vendor recommendations across 24 categories. The recommendations use key planning details such as location, guest count, budget considerations and more to match couples’ needs.
- Visual-first vendor discovery. The Knot said this brings “immersive imagery and detailed content into a traditionally text-led AI experience.” That can help couples evaluate vendors with greater confidence.
- AI-generated vendor review summaries. The Knot said this helps couples assess fit and credibility.
- Smart ranking of results. The company intends for the rankings to reduce option fatigue and decision overload.
- “Seamless handoff” to TheKnot.com. This allows couples to continue planning, saving and contacting vendors.
The company also said its new integration will add to “The Knot Worldwide’s broader AI-powered planning ecosystem.” It added that it “remains committed to shaping the future of AI-powered wedding planning.”
In September, The Knot launched an AI feature called “Make it Yours” to match couples with vendors based on their visual preferences. In June 2025, David’s Bridal had introduced its agentic AI wedding planner features in beta testing.
The Knot joins Walmart, Target, DoorDash, Instacart and more in launching ChatGPT apps and experiences since the fall. In a recent blog post, OpenAI said both weekly and daily active users are at all-time highs. Its chief financial officer described the driving factor as a flywheel linking computing capacity, model performance, product adoption and revenue.
