GrubMarket adds AI agent with goal to assist sales teams

GrubMarket is adding a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tool to its portfolio of software agents aimed at food distributors.

The new Sales AI Agent will focus on assisting sales teams in finding customers and generating price sheets, GrubMarket said in a June 8 press release. The San Francisco-based software-as-a-service (SAAS) company operates in the U.S., Canada, and other countries. It provides software and ecommerce services to food producers, wholesalers, distributors and retailers.

“The food supply chain industry is undergoing a once-in-a-generation transformation driven by artificial intelligence,” GrubMarket CEO Mike Xu said. “This launch represents another important step in our broader vision of building specialized AI agents that automate and optimize every major function across the food supply chain industry.”

The Sales AI Agent is the latest AI investment for GrubMarket, following a $50 million round of funding in February.

How GrubMarket’s Sales AI Agent works

The agent is designed to streamline the sales process, from identifying prospects to delivering customized proposals, GrubMarket said. It does that through six capabilities:

  1. Territory-based prospect discovery. Sales teams can identify restaurants, foodservice operators, and retailers by zip code and use the agent to access contact information and website links.
  2. AI menu analysis. Given a photo of a restaurant menu, the agent can identify products and recommend specific items from GrubMarket’s catalog.
  3. Automated price sheets. It creates custom price sheets that can be shared with potential customers.
  4. Quote customization. The GrubMarket sales team can tailor pricing proposals to each individual client.
  5. Multi-channel sharing. The agent can share price sheets with prospects via WhatsApp, email, text message, or other platforms.
  6. Integration. The Sales AI Agent can operate as a standalone service or integrate with other food distribution software, including WholesaleWare ERP, Thyme Software, Granite State Software, PICS by WaudWare, and Orders IO.

GrubMarket said these features will make human sales teams more efficient.

“The traditional process of researching prospects, reviewing menus, selecting products, and building customized quotes can take a sales rep hours for a single opportunity,” said Genevieve Wang, chief software product officer. “The Sales AI Agent compresses that process into minutes.”

GrubMarket’s other AI investments

The Sales AI Agent follows other AI investments GrubMarket has made over the past year, focused on orders, inventory management, reporting and more.

In September of 2025, it released a reporting AI agent on its GrubAssist AI platform designed to automate the generation of business reports for food wholesalers and distributors while eliminating bottlenecks in the process.

Then in January of 2026, GrubMarket launched a Monitoring AI Agent to monitor financial and operational data for customers and alert them to issues with performance metrics, inventory levels or customer activity. GrubMarket also acquired Procurant, a provider of cloud-based software for fresh food procurement. At the time, Xu said the addition of Procurant would enhance the company’s ability to deliver AI-powered procurement tools to customers.

The company has plans to continue expanding its AI capabilities with its latest round of funding earlier this year.

“As AI continues to evolve, GrubMarket remains committed to leading the industry’s digital transformation and helping food supply chain businesses unlock new levels of intelligence, efficiency, and growth,” Xu said.
