SPS Commerce has launched “MAX,” a set of artificial intelligence (AI) features it designed to operate within customers’ existing supply-chain and fulfillment workflows rather than as a separate analytics or chatbot tool.
The company said MAX draws on data from its network of about 300,000 trading connections and billions of transactions to identify patterns, monitor exceptions and guide users through operational steps that often lead to compliance issues, chargebacks or rejected shipments.
SPS Commerce positioned the release as an expansion of its recently introduced AI-driven fulfillment capabilities, aimed at embedding AI more directly into day-to-day trading-partner processes used by retailers, suppliers and distributors.
SPS Commerce is headquartered in Minneapolis. The company said it has reported 99 consecutive quarters of revenue growth.
SPS Commerce: MAX AI will initially include three features
- MAX Chat. Embedded into operational screens, the chat uses SPS data to identify patterns that may signal potential fulfillment or compliance problems and provides step-by-step guidance to resolve them.
- MAX Monitor. It runs continuously in the background, reviews transactions, workflow requirements and exceptions across the SPS network and surfaces issues while automating routine tasks.
- MAX Connect. SPS Commerce designed it to integrate with other business systems and AI tools. It supports Model Context Protocol (MCP) so SPS data and context can be used within ERP, CRM and data platforms.
“We are focused on far more than just data or mapping specs,” said Mike Svatek, chief product officer at SPS Commerce. “We are advancing our customers’ experiences with a network that understands business processes, context and intent.”
SPS Commerce provides electronic data interchange (EDI), item data synchronization and fulfillment connectivity. It said it has more than 50,000 recurring-revenue customers across retail, grocery, distribution, manufacturing and logistics. Those connections frequently produce exceptions tied to routing rules, labeling requirements, advance ship notices and purchase-order compliance. These are issues that can result in financial penalties for suppliers and distributors.
The company said it intends for MAX to address those problems by operating within the same systems and screens employees already use. It will observe transactions as they occur and prompt corrective action when needed.
SPS Commerce said customers can enroll in beta programs through their account representatives. The company plans to host a customer webinar March 26 to outline initial use cases and product details.
